Hello, and welcome to House of Alexanders! I’m Amy, mother of 4, grandma to 1, and an avid DIYer. I love creating beautiful and functional spaces, and sharing those projects with others. As a child, I watched my dad do countless DIY projects, and grew to love the smell of sawdust. As a young mom of 4, I didn’t have the time to do big projects. I painted rooms, dabbled in wall moldings and closet shelving, and found joy in refinishing outdated furniture.
9 years ago, when we moved into our current home, I finished two of the basement bedrooms with my dad. He taught me how to use a nail gun, and the rest was history. I soon built cubbies and a bench in my mudroom (but I’m definitely going to redo that soon). I also added board and batten and shelves to my kids’ rooms, and continued to do smaller projects. Working on these smaller DIY projects helped me to fine-tuning my finishing skills.
Following the marriage of two of my daughters in 2021, I decided to further develop my hobby. Remodeling my impossible-to-organize pantry was my first time building drawers, and that inspired me to learn how to build cabinets. I started a DIY Instagram page because I realized that I love sharing my projects with others- and that’s how House of Alexanders was born.
